šŸŒŸ How to let go of identities that no longer serve you

If you don't let go of your past, you'll never reach new levels

Hey Flawsome Human,

If you could describe yourself, what would you say? How do you identify yourself?

Our self identity is the collection of labels, beliefs, and roles we use to define ourselves.

But I personally believe itā€™s so much more than that.

This weeks topic is all around identity and how the stories we tell ourselves, aka our thoughts, manifest in our life (for better and for worse).

āœŠ HOW TO LET GO OF OLD IDENTITIES & ADPOT NEW ONES āœŠ

1ļøāƒ£ Self awareness - what stories do you tell yourself?

Humans have approximately 70,000 thoughts per day. And about 45,000 of those thoughts are negative. Subconsciously, we think negative thoughts more than we realize.

Identify your thoughts towards yourself, both positive and negative. Write them down. An example from my own life is, I would tell myself I was awkward and shy. This story isnā€™t true, and doesnā€™t serve me anymore. I canā€™t be the confident person I want to be if Iā€™m telling myself Iā€™m awkward and shy.

2ļøāƒ£ Reframing your beliefs - how can you be empowered?

Those negative thoughts or stories you tell yourselfā€¦ how can you reframe them? Have some compassion towards yourself for the past version of you, who might have been awkward or shy (or whatever you tell yourself). Take note of all of the things you do in your current life to combat those beliefs, and to put things into perspective.

For me, I realized a shy and awkward person wouldnā€™t speak in front of people on stages, or overshare on the internet (lol) so that thought wasnā€™t true, and it wasnā€™t serving the current version of myself.

3ļøāƒ£ Action - what can you do to grow into the new version of you?

It just takes small daily changes to become an entirely different person. Write down who you aspire to be, and what type of habits that person has. What does their day look like?

And how can you start implementing these changes TODAY? It wonā€™t happen overnight, but it can happen.

Iā€™ve struggled a lot with identities - I was secretly a sex worker for nearly 7 years, and for the longest time I felt like I didnā€™t have much value in this world.

It takes time but you can absolutely become someone new, who has different stories - stories that empower them.

This week I go deeper into this on my podcast & my personal struggles with it:

ā€¦and just want to say - thanks for being a part of the Flawsome Humans community. See you next Wednesday.

Stay Flawsome,
