šŸŒŸ 5 ways to be happier

it's the little things that count

Hey Flawsome human,

Happy Wednesday, weā€™ve made it halfway through the week. šŸ˜Ž

Everyone wants to live a happier life.

But what exactly does this mean? And how exactly does one achieve this ā€˜happinessā€™ everyone speaks of?

Itā€™s not complicated and thereā€™s no secret code to unlock this door.

Hereā€™s a few things you can do in your day to get you feelinā€™ happier.

šŸ˜ŠHow to get those happy vibes goingšŸ˜Š

1ļøāƒ£ Practice gratitude: Take 5 minutes every morning to just express gratitude. It can be small (like the coffee youā€™re gonna have after you wake up) or can be big. Think it, write it, speak it - anything works. How does this make you happier? Well, thereā€™s been countless studies done that show regularly expressing gratitude improves a personā€™s mood. People who are grateful live happier lives.

Focus on the things you have, not the things you donā€™t. Glass half full situation, yā€™know?

2ļøāƒ£ Find a hobby/activity you enjoy: It can be riding a bike, playing an instrument, or simply doodling in a colouring book. Something that makes you feel good. Itā€™s important to remember that not everything has to be ā€˜productive.ā€™ I used to think hobbies were a waste of time, but this is a way for us to recharge and bring in those feel-good hormones. For me, this looks like yoga classes or baking.

This is your sign to take up a new hobby (or try something new) if you donā€™t currently do this.

3ļøāƒ£ Move your body: any way you like. On a bike, on a hike, on grass, in a yoga classā€¦ šŸ˜‰ Movement is so good for us - not only our physical body, but our mind as well. And finding something that you enjoy doing is key.

4ļøāƒ£ Maintain & build relationships: spend time with the people in your life. Friends, family - strong social connections have been proven to boost our mood. Sometimes we let things slip through the cracks (and by things I mean relationships). Life can get busy, and it happens.

Butā€¦ send a text, check in with an old friend, or maybe DM someone new and make a new connection.

5ļøāƒ£ Meditate: Take 5-10 minutes a day to just totally disconnect. Meditating isnā€™t sitting cross-legged in complete silence (well, it can be if you like) and it can look different for everyone.

Maybe itā€™s going for a walk by the lake with no music/distractions and be alone with your thoughts. Maybe itā€™s taking a few minutes before bed to just be present with yourself.

Humans are always stimulated. Try stripping all of that away and see how it feels.

When weā€™re happier, we show up better in the world.

Happiness is contagious (and the only thing a person wants to catchšŸ¤§šŸ˜‰).

Try adding in 1 of these things and see how youā€™re feeling.

Stay flawsome,

-Erica
